Nika Gorič commenced with ballet classes at the age of 5, at the Ballet and Music School in Maribor and in 2009 graduated in ballet studies. She has been performing at the Slovene National Theatre (SNG) Maribor from a very young age. There she participated in several ballet shows (La Bayadère, The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty…) and operas (La Bohème, Carmen, Turandot…) accompanied by her mother’s children choir. Due to her intense participation at the theatre, she quickly fell in love with the opera and the atmosphere behind the curtains. She consequently decided to dedicate her life to theatre.

During high school she began taking classes of classical singing, led by Prof. Jolanda Korat. After two years of studying, she applied to the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria, where she successfully passed the admission test. At the moment she is in her third year of her studies by Prof. Annemarie Zeller.

Throughout her studies in Maribor, she participated in many ballet and singing competitions. At the Germany Open, Burghausen, she won the first prize and received a golden award in the category of Modern dance. At the International classical singing contest “Nikola Cvejić” in Ruma, Serbia, she ranked third in her category. At the regional and national competitions in Slovenia she always reached the highest places.

She has been attending classes, led by many internationally acclaimed singers and professors, like Marvin H. Keenze, Sabina Cvilak, Marijana Lipovšek, Alfred Burgstaller, Dunja Vejzović and Angelika Kirchschlager.

She sang solo and participated in several concerts: Lions charity concert in Stadtmuseum Graz, Kiwanis charity concerts in Minoritensaal Graz, Wozzeck (Maria’s child) – Stefaniensaal Graz, a concert dedicated to Hans Florey, Tropenhaelften im Hsuan-thu in Florentinersaal, Palais Meran – Graz, etc.

In 2011 she studied the role of Susanna from Mozart`s Le nozze di Figaro and sang Barbarina at the premiere in the newly built concert hall Gyorgy-Ligeti-Saal at Mumuth in Graz. The following season she sang the role of Sandman in E. Humperdinck`s opera Hansel and Gretel.

She has also performed on international stages - in September 2011 she was invited to be a part of International Youth in Concert, in Mustpeade Maja in Tallinn and was subsequently asked to perform as a soloist at the International Youth in Concert at Kioi Hall Tokio. She has performed at various charity events in the area of Fukushima in Japan.

At the moment she is preparing the upcoming project Il matrimonio segreto by Domenico Cimarosa, in which she is going to sing the role of Elisetta.
