Marko Crnkovič (1962) is a columnist of the Sobotna priloga (Saturday Supplement) of the biggest Slovenian newspaper company Delo and Assistant Editor-in-Chief for digital development at Delo.

He studied comparative literature and French language and literature at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana. During his studies, he started publishing literary and theatre reviews as well as translations from French into Slovenian.

After his diploma he worked as a journalist in the culture department of Delo, until he became the head of the culture-art programme in 1991 at the Cankarjev dom cultural and congress centre in Ljubljana. He soon returned to Delo and was the editor-in-chief of the biweekly supplement Razgledi, where he stayed until it was cancelled in 1999.

 

Between 1995 and 2000 he wrote columns for Sobotna priloga. From 2001 until 2003 he was a columnist and advisor to the editor of the business newspaper Finance. From 2004 until 2010 he wrote columns for the Dnevnik newspaper and Dnevnik’s supplement Objektiv. From 2006 until 2010 he was the editor and blogger of Siol’s Blogos, while writing again for Delo’s supplement Sobotna priloga during the last two years.

In 2012 he received the Jurčič award for his columns.

On Twitter he is the most followed Slovenian journalist, while he is ranked top 10 in all of Slovenia. He expresses his artistic side through photographs in Instagram.
