Izabella Simon began her piano studies at age seven and graduated from the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, with studies and master classes from György Kurtág, Ferenc Rados, Sándor Falvai and others.

In chamber music Izabella has often appeared with artists like Heinz Holliger, Miklós Perényi, Radovan Vlatkovic and her husband, pianist Dénes Várjon, with whom she has given numerous duo piano recitals to critical acclaim. She is now particularly in demand as an accompanist for singers. She has performed with Juliane Banse, Judit Németh and Ruth Ziesak, among others, and she has made two recordings with Sylvia Sass for CANT-ART and a CD of works by Bartók, Kodály and Ligeti with Andrea Rost for Warner Classics.

Izabella has been a guest at international music festivals like the Ittingen Music Festival in Switzerland, the Hitzacker Festival and Heidelberger Frühling in Germany, the Maribor Festival in Slovenia and the Open Chamber Music--Prussia Cove in England. As a soloist, she has appeared with leading Hungarian orchestras, the Kremerata Baltica and the Camerata Bern. She also frequently broadcasts for Hungarian Radio and Television and for Swiss Radio, and she has won prizes at numerous piano competitions.
