Popović was born in 1977 in Pančevo, Serbia, where he finished the primary and secondary music school. In 1999 he graduated under the leadership of Prof Ulf Rodenhäuser on the Academy of Music in Stuttgart, Germany. Two years later he completed his masters at the Academy of Music in Munich. As a soloist or member of chamber ensembles he performed on stages around the world. In his career Popović worked together with the Munich Philharmonics, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Philharmonic Orchestra Nacija, Belgrade Philharmonics, Radio Orchestra Valencia, the Academic Orchestras from Munich and Stuttgart and others.

He has won several international music competitions at home and abroad. Since 2002 he is the principal solo clarinettist of the Belgrade Philharmonics. In the same year he founded the Balkan Chamber Academy chamber orchestra composed of distinguished names of the world of classical music.

In addition to his musical career, Popović also teaches Clarinet and Saxophone at the international music workshop for winds in Tivat, Montenegro, and at the Belgrade Academy of Fine Arts. Since 2007 he is also assistant professor at the prestigious Academy for Chamber Music “Villa Musica”.
