Daniela Candillari has worked as pianist, chorus master and assistant conductor in Europe, North America, and Asia.  As a pianist and vocal coach she has collaborated with such artists as Carol Vaness, Martina Arroyo, Roger Vignoles, Marko Letonja, and Håkan Hagegård. 

Ms. Candillari was the first musician from Slovenia to win a Fulbright Scholarship and a TED Fellowship.  She received her Bachelor of Music and Masters Degree in Piano Performance from Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, Austria, a Masters Degree in Jazz studies from Indiana University School of Music, and a Ph.D. in Musicology from the University in Vienna.

Ms. Candillari has given numerous recitals throughout Europe, United States, and Canada. Interests in chamber music and orchestral works have resulted in her various recording collaborations as well as radio and TV productions throughout Europe. 

In recent years she developed a strong interest in multimedia projects, resulting in an invitation by Håkan Hagegård to Stockholm for performances of Dominick Argento’s From the Diary of Virginia Woolf and Ture Rangström’s Ur Kung Eriks Visor.

Her past projects include a recital Northern Lights with Ørjan Hartveit; Adjustments, a video production with Pablo Rodriguez and Ted Strauss, a production for Bravo Channel (Montréal) on TV series Shakespeare in Words and Music, and a recital titled Les chemins de l’amour at the Slovenian National Opera in Maribor.

Ms. Candillari’s past engagements as a pianist and assistant conductor include Indiana University School of Music, Bloomington, Lyrique-en-Mer (Belle Ile-en-Mer), Lidal North (Oslo), International Vocal Arts Institute (Montréal), AIMS (Graz), and Brevard Music Festival (North Carolina). Since 2011/12 Season she has been working as chorus master at the Slovenian National Opera in Maribor.

In Fall 2011 Ms. Candillari made her debut as a composer, when she wrote and recorded the music to the acclaimed play The Woman I read to/Ženska, ki sem ji bral (Slovenian National Theater).

In May 2012 she released a CD recording Les chemins de l’amour with soprano Andreja Zakonjsek Krt, and is writing original music for a ballet production with Valentina Turcu.
